ThisFunktional gets into the twisted logic of Travel Plans with Zoey
In a video interview for ThisFunktional.com, Jesus Figueroa speaks with filmmaker Zoey Sidwell about the strange balancing act behind Travel Plans. Part uncomfortable family drama. Part very dry comedy. The sort of film where the audience spends most of the runtime trying to catch up to what the characters already understand.
Sidwell discusses her attraction to stories that quietly change shape underneath the viewer, along with the challenge of building tension inside a single contained location. No visual spectacle. No elaborate setup. Just performance, timing, and increasingly alarming subtext.
“I like things where I think I know where it’s going, and then I’m wrong.”
The conversation also touches on the screenplay by Krista Amigone and the collaborative process behind bringing the film together on a small scale.
