The Hollywood Times calls Travel Plans “a compact, powerful jolt”

The Hollywood Times recently featured Zoey Sidwell’s short film Travel Plans following its screening at the LA Shorts International Film Festival. Writer Teri Kinne focuses on something most short films attempt and very few actually pull off: making a tiny story feel emotionally larger than its runtime suggests.
“It’s rare that a three-minute film can pack in the emotional complexity and narrative misdirection of a feature-length drama, but Travel Plans does exactly that.”
The article highlights the film’s restrained setup. Two people in a car. A conversation after a wedding. The growing suspicion that absolutely nobody involved should be left alone with their own decisions. Kinne also points to the film’s ability to quietly destabilize the audience without ever overplaying the reveal.
“Audiences see that in the few minutes of Travel Plans she manages to disturb, amuse, and provoke reflection—all while leaving the viewer with more questions than answers.”
The piece also recognizes the collaborative nature of the production, including writer and actor Krista Amigone, actors Jared Boghosian and Sean Michael Boozer, cinematographer Marilyn Flores, and the small team behind the film. Minimal setup. Maximum discomfort. Efficient.
